Foster Youth Services

MUSD in partnership with the First District Foster Youth Program, the Department of Children and Family Services, and various community partnerships are working together to address the academic and social-emotional needs of our students living in foster care (relative caregivers, foster care, and group homes).

The First District Foster Youth Program, offered by Supervisor Hilda Solis, allows for two based social workers to concentrate efforts with MUSD high school students in foster care. Our school-based social workers collaborate with counselors, teachers, school and district administration so students are:

  • ensured school stability
  • have an academic plan for a successful high school  experience
  • prepared for graduation and beyond

In addition, the school-based social workers partner with community resources and tailor services for individual needs.

Caregivers are encouraged to attend MUSD sponsored workshops especially designed on caregiver input and two half day Saturday Conferences. Click on “Resource Families Workshops” for detailed information.
