Mission Statement

To serve the Montebello Unified School District students and staff by providing a safe, healthy and pleasant environment that will support, stimulate and enhance the educational process.

Maintenance & Operations Organization Flow

George Upegui
Maintenance Manager-Mechanical/Construction

  • Implements and monitors work plans to achieve division mission, goals, and performance measures.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates work assignments and projects.
  • Formulates and develops assigned unit goals and objectives for the electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and cafeteria equipment trades.
  • Prepares a variety of special and recurring studies and reports.
  • Evaluates programs in terms of cost and program goals.
  • Prepares and monitors section budgets, time reports, and employee evaluation process.
  • Acts as M&O Safety Compliance Officer.
  • Implements and monitors work plans to achieve division mission, goals, and performance measures.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates work assignments and projects.
  • Formulates and develops assigned unit goals and objectives for the carpentry, cabinetry, painting, masonry, glazier, roofing, and locksmith trades.
  • Prepares a variety of special and recurring studies and reports.
  • Evaluates programs in terms of cost and program goals.
  • Prepares and monitors section budgets, time reports, and employee evaluation process.
  • Develops and monitors repair projects related to the construction field.

Construction Supervisor (Painting, Doors & Hardware, Glazier, Carpentry, Roofing, Cabinetry)

  • Plans and assigns the work for specific trades, establishes work priorities, and ensures training of assigned personnel.
  • Monitors, supervises, and inspects the work of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance personnel in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of buildings.
  • Coordinates and schedules carpentry work, finishing, and altering of doors, counters, and windows and frames.
  • Oversees work performed by contractors to ensure quality workmanship and specification compliance
  • Plans and assigns the work for specific trades, establishes work priorities, and ensures training of assigned personnel.
  • Monitors, supervises, and inspects the work of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance personnel in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of buildings.
  • Coordinates and schedules carpentry work, roofing, masonry, and cabinetry.
  • Oversees work performed by contractors to ensure quality workmanship and specification compliance.

Art Montanez
Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor
(Electrical / Plumbing / Heating / Ventilation / Air-Conditioning / Cafeteria Equipment)

  • Supervises all electrical and plumbing repair requests.
  • Monitors the preventative maintenance program for the section.
  • Plans, schedules, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.
  • Establishes work priorities, routines, and assigns work to personnel.
  • Establishes performance requirements and personal development targets.
  • Provides day to day leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment.
  • Monitors the electrical and plumbing inventory and supplies.
  • Ensures proper safety equipment and safety practices are adhered to.
  • Establishes workload criteria to minimize overtime.
  • Oversees work performed by contractors to ensure quality workmanship and specification compliance.

Maintenance Manager - Operations

  • Plans, coordinates, and manages the activities and personnel for custodial services, grounds maintenance, and the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic systems, equipment and devices.
  • Shares responsibility for custodial personnel with site administrators.
  • Implements Operations Division goals, objectives, and work plans.
  • Assists school-site administrators with operations issues, needs and concerns, including the maintenance and repair of electronic equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains schedules, custodial unit assignments, inventories, equipment, and hazardous materials records.

Ernie Ramirez
Operations Supervisor

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department's and District's mission, strategic plan, objectives and values.
  • Coordinates and schedules grounds maintenance work; supervises, reviews, monitors, and evaluates the work of personnel involved in the maintenance of District grounds including lawns, plants, shrubs, trees and paved surfaces. Supervises landscaping, planting, weeding, fertilizing, soil conditioning, pest control, mowing, edging, and removal of debris.

Darrell Moore
Custodial Services Supervisor

  • Plans, coordinates, inspect, and evaluates the custodial operations of swing shift personnel at all District school site.
  • Confers with District and school site administrators to develop and document cleanliness and safety standards. Assists in the staffing requirements of custodial personnel.
  • Establishes, monitors, and conducts custodial training to all custodial personnel, leads, and plant supervisors.
