  • What is Pathways?
Pathways is a 4-year curriculum starting in the 9th grade through the 12th grade. Ten (10) career-themed Pathways are offered at the Applied Technology Center High School, Bell Gardens High School, Montebello High School, and Schurr High School.
 
Pathways to College and Career Success is an effective educational approach to high school that combines academic courses with Career Technical Education. Pathways offers students challenging, academic, and technical hands-on experiences in real-world projects and provides the opportunity to learn what they love, connecting student’s school work with their interests.  Pathways introduces students to a variety of college and career options early in life, so they have a clearer sense of where to go and what to do.
 
 
  • Will a Pathway prepare me for college?
Yes, All Pathways have access to rigorous A-G approved coursework including college prep, Honors, and Advanced Placement. The goal is to prepare students for both college and career.
 
 
  • Is Pathways offered during the day or after school?
Pathway courses are not after school, they are incorporated into the traditional school day.
 
  • How do I apply for Pathways?
Open Enrollment for Pathways will start in November. The application is available online on the district's website.`
 
 
  • After I apply, what happens next?
You will receive a notification via mail if you are accepted into a Pathway. The letter will detail the next steps.
 
 
  • Can I apply for a Pathway not offered at my high school?
Yes, applying to the Pathway you prefer will allow you to attend the high school where that Pathway is offered.
 
 
  • Am I guaranteed acceptance into the Pathway of my choice?
As long as space permits, all students interested will be accepted. 
 
 
  • If I change my mind, can I return to my home school?
Yes, you may change your mind at any time but will be returned to your home school when it is appropriate for the receiving and releasing school. Parents must sign a drop or change form in order to make changes. The form may be obtained from your counselor or district office.
 
 
  • Is transportation available?
Currently, transportation is provided for students coming from Bell Gardens High School to the Applied Technology Center High School. Parents/Guardians are responsible for transportation to all other school sites at this time.
