Workers' Compensation
In California, workers’ compensation fraud involves providing false or misleading information in order to obtain benefits to which you are not legally entitled. The crime can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony and carries penalties of up to 5 years in jail or prison and a fine of up to fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) or double the amount of the fraud, whichever is greater. Insurance Code Section 1871-2
