Carlos Cerdan

Board of Education Mr. Carlos Cerdan Portrait

Mr. Carlos Cerdan was born in Montebello and is a proud son of parents from Mexico City and Guanajuato, Mexico.  A graduate of Montebello High School, he later attended Rio Hondo College and eventually transferred to Whittier College where he got his Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics.  

 

After graduating college, he was selected to be an intern for Honorable Congressman Xavier Becerra, now US Secretary of Health and Human Services for the Biden Administration.  After completing his internship, Mr. Cerdan became a Research Economist for a national and international economic consulting firm in West Los Angeles.  As a research economist he was involved in litigation support and damage assessment analysis.  

 

After working in the private sector for some years, Mr. Cerdan followed his calling to become a public school teacher.  His teaching experience ranges from Kinder through 6th grade.  Mr. Cerdan has out-of-the-classroom experience as a Title 1 Coordinator, Literacy Coach and currently, as a Multilingual Multicultural Academic Language Coach serving the Central and South Central areas of Los Angeles.

 

Mr. Cerdan has been an outspoken advocate for public education and believes that our school district should provide an outstanding public education where we meet the academic needs of our students as well as offer our young scholars a place where they feel welcomed and safe.  

 

“As a school board member, my goal is to help make Montebello Unified a world class school district that provides an outstanding education in the South East Los Angeles area where students will be college and career ready.”  

 

Mr. Cerdan currently lives in Montebello with his wife Emma who is a small business owner in Montebello.
