Montebello Unified School District is committed to providing qualified, competent, and caring professionals for every classroom. Supporting newly hired teachers is a very high priority. The District offers a variety of professional development programs to address the unique needs and strengths of beginning teachers.

The Montebello Unified School District Teacher Induction Program is a California Department of Education (CDE) and Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) approved induction program to clear a Multiple Subject, Single Subject, and Education Specialist teaching credentials. Teachers who have received an SB2042 Preliminary Credential are eligible to participate in the Montebello Unified School District Teacher Induction Program (MTIP).  An Early Completion Option (ECO) is available for those who have three or more years of contract, full-time teaching experience.

MUSD prides itself on providing a two-year, individualized; job-embedded system of mentoring, support, and professional learning that begins in the teacher’s first year of teaching. The program is based on a clearly defined set of goals and outcomes designed around the California Standards for the Teaching Profession Standards (CSTP) to support new teacher growth and student achievement.  The Program is organized around the state content standards, the California Standards for the Teacher Profession (CSTP), and Standards. Opportunities to observe exemplary teachers in action, plan instruction, implement strategies, and dialogue about ways to improve teaching practice, are all elements of MTIP.
